1. History Kids Summer at Allaire Village
Join us this August for History Kids Summer. Every Friday in August come to Allaire Village and learn what is like to live in 19th century. History Kids Summer is designed for children ages 5-12 years old, who want to experience history first hand and learn the different trades, tasks, and lifestyles of an 1830s Howell Iron Works villager This will be paired with an activity. History Kids Summer is an expansion of our monthly History Kids Club. Parents are encouraged to stay and assist their child in the activities. August 6: Weaving with yarn! Ages 5-12; $10 per child. History Kids Club is designed for children ages 5-12 years old, who want to experience history first hand and learn the different trades, tasks and lifestyles of an 1830s Howell Iron Works villager. The club will meet monthly for history centered workshops where children can complete a fun and educational activity that represents an element of life in the 19th century. Parents are encouraged to stay and assist their child in the activities. August 8th: Basket Weaving. Ages 5-12; $10 per child. Space is limited! Register early at this link. 2. Enviro-Quest- Monmouth County Parks
Don’t know what to do on a weekday this summer break? Why not seek out some nature fun. Follow the Enviro-Quest signs to where the Park System Naturalist is waiting. Once you are there you can join in on a mini-nature lesson, activity, or walk for 30-60 minutes of nature-based fun. Activities may include meeting a live animal, finding hidden treasures, or discovering animal knickknacks. Bring your sense of adventure and we’ll bring the rest! We recommend packing a lunch and staying after the program to enjoy a picnic in your local parks.
3. Seining Along Sandy Hook Bay
Discover a variety of fish, crabs and other sea creatures as we pull a long seine net along the edge of Sandy Hook Bay. 4. Visit the Animals at Historic Longstreet Farm
The sights, sounds, and smells of rural Monmouth County in the 1890s have been re-created on 9 acres at Historic Longstreet Farm in Holmdel Park, Holmdel. Interpreters in period dress show both daily and seasonal agricultural and domestic activities. The site is maintained as a living historical farm with the purpose of interpreting the agricultural activities in Monmouth County's rural past. This interpretation includes the breeds of animals and crops raised at this site in the 1890s. Free
5. Painting Pottery at A Time to Kiln Red Bank
Paint with A Time to Kiln in Red Bank! Stop in from 12-6pm daily on Mondays or Wednesday through Sunday. Last seating to paint is one hour before closing. Please note: Later seating is accommodated by appointment only so call 732-450-9525 to reserve a time and tell them you saw it on Macaroni Kid. Mondays 12-6, Closed on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 12-6, Fridays 11-9, Saturdays 11-6 and Sundays 11-6.
