We were recently invited to visit the newly opened Kalahari Resorts & Conventions in the Poconos Mountains.  An African-themed upscale resort, Kalahari Resorts offers all of the amenities you could possibly want under one roof for a vacation filled with plenty of adventure and excitement for the entire family.

Of course, the most exciting part for the young and young at heart in our family was the indoor waterpark on the property.  We spent much of the weekend splashing, sliding, and floating our way around the park.  We even did some bodyboarding on the Flowrider, too, which became a quick family favorite.  A favorite slide for our family was the Anaconda water coaster.  A combination of up and down dips with open tubes and closed tunnels made for an adventurous ride.

The Crocodile Cove Lazy River was great to unwind when you needed a break from the slides.  If you have really young children, they even had a smaller kid's lazy river near the toddler water hole play area as well. There was plenty for every level of thrill seeker inside the waterpark, and it was easy to have hours pass you by without notice while playing together as a family.

Kalahari Resorts in the Poconos offers Pennsylvania’s largest indoor waterpark (100,000 sq. ft.) as well as a large outdoor waterpark that includes a huge outdoor pool, sundeck for relaxing, indoor/outdoor whirlpools and a swim-up bar.  Kalahari also recently broke ground on Phase II of the project, which will include adding 100,000 sq. ft. to the indoor waterpark, increasing the size of the outdoor waterpark, and nearly doubling the number of guest rooms.  When Phase II reaches completion, Kalahari Resorts in the Poconos will be the largest indoor waterpark in the country!

When your family is waterlogged from hours of water play time together, you can grab a meal at one of the three full-service signature dining options or venture about for some mini-bowling, arcade games, black light mini golf, a 5D theater experience, and much more inside the 30,000 sq. ft. Family Entertainment Center.  There are tons of games inside to please every age and interest. They also offer a variety of family oriented and child-specific activities through the Kalahari Adventurers Club, for which you receive a schedule upon check-in so it's easy to work some dry fun into your day.  When dining, we found the food at the Ivory Coast Restaurant quite good for dinner after a busy and exciting full first day in the water park, so we ended up returning there to dine again on our next day for lunch!

As if all of this weren't enough, there is a Spa and a multitude of shopping options at Kalahari Resorts in the Poconos as well.  My kids got such a thrill out of the enormous plush giraffes and other African-themed animals inside the shops.  Many were bigger than the kids!  They have a wide variety of unique items available for purchase inside the shops.

When you've just had enough excitement for one day and need to turn in for the evening, go ahead and enjoy some bonding time as a family in your own personal suite. There are four hundred and fifty-seven suites in a variety of  one-, two-, and three- bedroom suites available to book.  Our room was really nicely African-themed, very clean, and quite spacious.  A small refrigerator and microwave were also available in the room.  It was easy to get comfortable and have plenty of space for everyone to relax and rejuvenate.

We have to mention the sweet treats at Java Manjaro, too.  Prepared within the theme of the entire resort and definitely quite large in size, they were essential treats to satisfy our sweet tooth.  Yum!

An easy overnight destination at only two hours away, Kalahari Resorts & Conventions was a fabulous weekend getaway.  We loved the accommodations, the indoor waterpark and outdoor pool, and the expansiveness of the resort and all of its on site offerings.  We can't wait to visit again!
