Back when it first opened in 1999, Medusa at Six Flags Great Adventure was the world's first floorless, top-rail roller coaster! It was re-themed to Bizarro in 2009, but we're excited to share with you that's it's been reimagined as Medusa again with new colors and theming story elements throughout the ride. We're talking about remnants of a mining town plagued by snakes with rings of mist symbolic of traveling back in time! You'll soar through bursting flames from the town's underground coal fire explosion and see the giant mining auger.
The best part, though, is the smooth ride you'll enjoy from start to finish on this fabulous 146 foot tall Medusa coaster with seven inversions to enjoy throughout your ride. Check out the new storyboards in the line queue to read all about the tale of the Batos brothers and the cursed town of Exile Canyon, also known as Medusa! Enjoy your journey through a vertical loop, dive loop, zero-G roll, cobra roll, and interlocking corkscrews. We rode Medusa three times in a row yesterday! How many rides will you take on Medusa? We loved it and can't wait to return and ride it again. Check out our exclusive reverse point of view on-ride footage from Medusa in this video:
We were also thrilled to enjoy the Summer Vibes Festival at Six Flags Great Adventure during our visit. This exciting, new summer festival runs through August 14th and offers six different zones to explore filled with specialty food offerings, entertainment, and fun for the whole family. The six zones are:
o Under the Sun, with its colorful umbrella canopy;
o Whirly Way, showcasing a massive pinwheel tunnel;
o Splash of Color, offering a colorful palette and drumming painters;
o Forgotten Garden, transforming ride relics and park memorabilia into beautiful, new planters;
o Wacky Wavy Way, featuring air dancers and the M&M’S® DJ booth; and
o Summer St., the cool-down zone featuring the sights of summer in the city, including a spraying fire truck.
We sampled some of the themed food offerings from the festival and especially loved the Sticky Teriyaki Sesame Chicken, Very Berry Good Lemonade, Jersey Shore Loaded Fries, and Virgin Summer Vibes Punch. For those who want to enjoy an adult beverage during their visit, check out the Rum Bucket, Summer Vibes Sangria or Seltzer, or Blood Orange Lemonade.
Make sure to pop over to Showcase Vibes inside the theater for unique and interactive photo opportunities. Another highlight is the exciting remix that's happening inside Skull Mountain. Complete with a summer vibe makeover and a digital DJ selecting one of six unique party music programs for your adventure, it's not to be missed!
Wacky Wavy Way was one of our favorite zones throughout the park, as you can see from our video found below! There are so many shows happening and entertainers out and about all day long that you'll certainly need more than one visit to see them all. The festival themed additions to the park are fully immersive and filled with eye-popping color. The Under the Sun umbrella canopy is especially beautiful, and we loved the look of our favorite photo spot at the fountain with Whirly Way off to the side as you head towards the big ferris wheel. Don't miss it; you'll definitely want to check out the Summer Vibes Festival!
Grab your park tickets today at this link to visit before August 14th! You'll enjoy grabbing a ride on the now-open Medusa coaster and taking in all of the eye-popping sights at the Summer Vibes Festival.
Thank you Six Flags Great Adventure for this amazing opportunity to check out the Summer Vibes Festival and be one of the first to ride Medusa with an awesome reverse point of view video.
