With a budding fashionista at home, I spend many a morning watching my youngest daughter choose between her tiaras, adorn herself with jewelry, and select only dresses for her "acceptable" wardrobe. Then, as if dressing for the day with flair isn't enough, she loves to play dress up in her free time. Therefore, it was a perfect fit when we were introduced to the book Monique's Boutique by Dorothy Whitehouse.
In the book, Monique and her darling dog Fifi take you on a tour through a chic Madison Avenue style boutique. Textured material swatches adorn the page and each one generated great excitement by my daughter. As the parent, I enjoyed the fact that the book introduces them to the proper terminology for various types of fabric and educates them on the proper times to wear them.
Samples of silk, taffeta, satin, and more are inside this adorable book. The text is succinct and educational while at the same time expressively whimsical with flair. A fabulous book for the little fashionista in your life, Monique’s Boutique is perfect for girls between the ages of 3 and 7 who love fashion, accessories and all things pretty.
